After Effects' font menu is a small dropdown with small previews, and it can't tell you where a font is used in a project or swap it everywhere. Choosing type means guessing from a list, and a client changing the brand typeface means opening comp after comp.
Font shows every installed font drawn in its own face and previews it on your selected text as you hover. Switch to the Replace tab to see which comps use a font, jump to those layers and swap exactly the ones you mean.
Select your text
Pick one or several text layers. The panel follows your selection.
Hover to preview
Move through the list and the title changes in your comp. Click or press Enter to keep it.
Dial it in
Set size, leading, tracking, kerning, colour and stroke. Drag a label to scrub, with the comp updating as you go.
Replace across the project
On the Replace tab, tick the fonts to swap, choose a target and click the tab again. One undo step.
